The problem

JMERC works with governments, schools and families across Uganda, and its programmes, evidence and news needed one place partners and donors could find them.

The idea

A site built around JMERC’s two programmes and the reach behind them. The team publishes its own news, resources, gallery and vacancies, and partners and donors can take the next step from any page.

What it does.

  • Presents both programmes, FILP and AREP, and what each includes
  • Shows reach by programme: schools, teachers and learners
  • News, resources, a gallery and vacancies, published by the team
  • A way to partner or donate from every page
JMERC’s lifecycle approach: cards for the Foundational and Inclusive Learning Programme and the Adolescent Resilience and Empowerment Programme, with what each includes.
JMERC’s reach table: schools, teachers, girls, boys and total learners for each programme, totalling 75 schools and 41,401 learners.
The JMERC gallery page: captioned photographs of programme delivery, facilitators and community sessions.

What’s underneath.

The decisions that make it work, most of which no one sees.

  1. The team publishes, not the developer

News, documents, the gallery and vacancies are edited in a content system, so the site stays current without a request to us.

  2. Reach is a table, not an infographic

Figures by programme are set as a real table: readable by screen readers, easy to update, and plain about the numbers.

  3. Giving goes where donors already are

The donate button leads to JMERC’s page on Every.org, a platform donors already trust, instead of a payment form built from scratch.
